Inside the Artistry of Floral Designer Balushka

Sugarfina HQ lobby

This spring, our SugarFam got the ultimate refresh—a brand new, beautiful home office! Our sweet new HQ is filled with signature Sugarfina style, starting with a statement wall designed by floral artist Balushka, the creative talent behind the dreamy accent walls in our boutiques.

Read on below to learn more about Balushka’s beautiful handmade blooms, and get a behind-the-scenes peek at the design process in our new space.

HANDCRAFTED WITH LOVE

Houston-based artist and paper designer Balushka began her creative journey while studying fashion in college. Working on one fashion photoshoot was all it took for her love of florals to blossom into the unique craft that led to her career. Today, you can see Balushka’s floral artistry adding sweet sophistication to a wide range of commercial and residential projects, including galleries, special events, and music festivals all over the world—along with a Sugarfina boutique near you!

“This collection is a celebration of people, communities and the experiences that bring them together. It is inspired by my passion for creating spaces where the pure and simple stands out, where people can come together to share simple joys based in love and light.”

STOP & (INSTAGRAM) THE ROSES

A nod to one of the elements you know and love (and can’t help but ‘gram) in Sugarfina boutiques, the floral wall in our home office is floor-to-ceiling, measuring 33’ wide by 8.5’ high. Each delicate paper bloom is made carefully by hand, with multiple shapes and sizes that come together to form a unique work of art.

Paper flowers sorted by size and style to prep for installation

Our office wall was arranged following the same visual design principles used in our boutiques, with varying size and scale—beginning in one corner and growing (pun intended) outward, one cluster at a time. The result? A life-size bouquet that’s as pretty as a picture. If this is what being a wallflower looks like, you can count us in.
